Voice

In the vocal music aspect of SOFA, we focus on preparing students for a competitive, diverse world of musical opportunities. We do not limit ourselves to what is easy and we do not limit our focus to simply musical pursuits. Instead, we strive for a holistic approach, one that allows us to educate young artists, entrepreneurs, administrators and whatever other pursuits our students find.

About The Program

The diversity of musical literature and opportunity at HCHS is rare in the state of Kentucky. Through our Show Choir, Chamber Choir and Concert Choir, our program provides three very different musical experiences, each of which appeal to a different group of students. From our performance at Carnegie Hall last spring to our involvement with the community around us, the HCHS Choirs are ambassadors for our school, our county and our state. Students and parents should seek out the HCHS SOFA program in vocal music for the unique insulation it will provide for their students in a mutually supportive system of arts education. There is something for all students in the vocal music program, whether their interest is Bach or Taylor Swift. We seek to meet the needs of our students just as much as we ask our students to conform to the successful system of music education we currently have in place.

Andrew Miller

2016 marks Mr. Miller’s second year at HCHS. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2015 from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor's in Music Education. He was an Alltech Vocal Scholar at UK and received the Presidential Merit Scholarship. Students of Miller’s can expect a fundamental reliance on several music literacy systems, including but not limited to the use of solfege and Curwen hand signs. His courses seek to present a diverse educational program that meets the demands placed on current artists in the work force.
